About the Lab

The Digital Scholarship Lab develops new digital tools and pedagogies for research and teaching, maintains a unique university digital resource network, fosters the research of students and faculty, and cultivates strategic partnerships with appropriate institutions and individuals. Serving as an incubator for new ideas and exploration, the Lab is a place for developing new digital projects and techniques that will enhance scholarship and teaching at the University of Richmond and beyond.

Staff

Robert K. Nelson is the DSL's director. He is an historian of nineteenth-century America. He holds a PhD in American studies from the College of William and Mary, and his work has appeared in the Journal of Social History and American Literature.

Scott Nesbit is the Digital Scholarship Lab's associate director, overseeing project work and classroom initiatives. Scott comes to the Lab after holding a doctoral fellowship at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture at the University of Virginia.

Nathaniel Ayers is the Digital Scholarship Lab’s programmer analyst, serving as the head of the Lab’s technical work and providing technical assistance to faculty and students. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, Nate has done programming and visualization work for the University of Virginia.

Hours

The DSL is located on the B2 level of Boatwright Library in room B08. The DSL is generally open weekdays from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. during the normal University schedule
